Frans Snyders - Peintures
Frans Snyders (Anvers, 11 novembre 1579 – 19 août 1657) – peintre flamand de l´époque baroque, surtout connu pour ses natures mortes et ses tableaux animaliers.
Frans Snyders suit l´enseignement de Pieter Brueghel le jeune et probablement de Hendrick von Balen. Il séjourne en Italie de 1602 à 1609 puis revient dans sa ville natale. Il travaille en collaboration avec plusieurs autres peintres – selon l´usage de cette époque en Hollande -, notamment Pierre-Paul Rubens, qui exerce une grande influence sur lui et surtout sa façon de traiter la couleur. Il se consacre avant tout à la représentation de natures mortes et met en vogue les tableaux avec pièces de gibier et volailles. Une de ses particularités consiste à introduire dans ces arrangements inanimés la présence d´animaux vivants. Il reçoit de nombreuses commandes de la part de collectionneurs qui apprécient grandement ses compositions harmonieuses et pleines de dynamisme. Il réalise aussi des scènes de chasse, de marché, des bouquets de fleurs. Vers la fin de sa vie, il peint en plein air des natures mortes de petit format à l´atmosphère apaisée.
