Albert Bierstadt - Peintures
Albert Bierstadt (7 janvier 1830, Düsseldorf – 19 février 1902, New York), peintre paysagiste américano-allemand de l´école du Fleuve Hudson, très tôt émigré aux USA. Albert Bierstadt, après une période d´abord autodidacte, décide de rentrer en Allemagne pour suivre les cours de l´Académie des Beaux-Arts de Düsseldorf. Au cours de son apprentissage, il voyage en Suisse et en Italie. Un an après son retour aux Etats-Unis en 1857, il commence à prendre part à des expéditions dans les montagnes américaines. Il y trouve l´inspiration pour de nombreux tableaux de grand format représentant des paysages de montagne idéalisés, à la manière romantique, qui lui apportent la notoriété et en outre offrent aux Américains une nouvelle façon de considérer la beauté des paysages qui les entourent.
