Georges Seurat - Paintings

Georges Seurat, was one of the most important French artists of the 19th century and, with the development of pointillism, a key founder of the modern art.
Born on December 02, 1859 in Paris.
Died on March 29, 1891 in Paris.
Georges Seurat, who studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, extensively dealt with the neo-classical works of Ingres, who attached very great importance to solid contours and to the line of painting. During his very short life, Georges Seurat became aware of the fact that many small dots of color, similar to the screening of a photograph, merge towards a surface before the eye of contemplator. From this observation, Seurat developed a painting technique that is today known as pointillism. With this technique, he tried to transfer the neo-classical strings to pointillist-shimmering colorfulness. After his first pointillist painting "Bathers at Asnières" was rejected by the Salon in 1883, he succeeded in showing his paintings to the still very averse public during Impressionist exhibitions.
