Albert Bierstadt, German-born American landscape painter of the Hudson River School who moved to the United States of America at early age.
Born on January 07, 1830 in Solingen.
Died on February 19, 1902 in New York, NY.
After a preliminary self-education, Albert Bierstadt travelled back to Germany to have himself trained at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf in order to become a painter. As a part of this apprenticeship, he also made more trips through Italy and Switzerland. One year after his return to America, in 1858, Albert Bierstadt started to join expeditions through the mountains of the USA. He painted many large-scale, romanticized mountain views that earned him a great reputation and, in addition to that, gave the Americans new perspectives for the scenic beauty of their country. |
