William Etty, well known for his female nudes' paintings, studied at the Royal Academy School under John Flaxmann and was appointed a full member in 1828. In addition to moralizing and mythological content, he also created genre scenes, conversation pieces and historical pictures. His painting "The battle" is considered a major work of art of idealistic painting in England. |
