Jacob Philipp Hackert, who received his education from his father, was a German landscape painter of the early Classicism.
Born on September 15, 1737 in Prenzlau.
Died on April 28, 1807 in San Piero di Careggi near Florence.
Jacob Philipp Hackert enrolled at the Berlin Royal Academy in 1754. Before going to Italy in 1768, where he was, among other things, appointed a painter at the Naples court of King Ferdinand IV, he traveled through Europe. The compositionally very balanced landscapes by Jacob Philipp Hackert also fascinate Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who later became the author of Hackert's biography. |
