William Holman Hunt, who was the main representative of the Pre-Raphaelites besides John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, was a major English painter and printmaker of the 19th century.

Died on September 07, 1910 in London.
In 1845, after working at the British Museum as a copyist for 10 years, William Holman Hunt was admitted to the Royal Academy, where he and his fellow painters John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti founded the Pre-Raphaelites Brotherhood. This style of art, which, in its religious and symbolic theme is very closely related to the works of Raphael, was directed against the activities of the Victorian Academy. William Holman Hunt had his first major success in 1854 with the painting "The Light of the World". He was able to help his religious and symbolic images to great authenticity, based on his experience gained from several trips through the Netherlands and France and through Palestine.
