Hans Baluschek - Paintings

Hans Baluschek was a German painter, graphic artist and illustrator of Realism who, due to his social-democratic attitude, preferred socially critical subjects.
Born on May 09, 1870 in Wroclaw.
Died on September 28, 1935 in Berlin.
After completing the artistic training at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, Hans Baluschek joins the Berlin Secession and subsequently the Free Secession. The paintings of the social democrat describe everyday life of the working class in a very drastic realism. He stuck up for an improvement of education as well as for art in general as a teacher and in politics. His father, who was a railway employee, enthused Baluschek also thematically for these technical innovations. In addition to numerous paintings, the artist in particular made illustrations for various newspapers and books. He gains his fame by the youth book "Little Peter's Trip to the Moon". Due to his socialist attitude, his art was vilified by the Nazis as degenerate.
